I was saved at 11 years old on a Wednesday night at North Liberty Baptist Church on March 19, 2014 after struggling with whether I was saved for a long time. I had made a false profession when I was five but I really had just repeated what someone had said. I don’t remember knowing anything more than that. A few years later I was struggling with it at camp. Then a young counselor told me that I could just pray, “Lord, if I’m not saved, please save me.” A few years later I was still struggling with it some and then I heard a preacher talk about how that exact phrase was wrong because you had to know! I again kept struggling with it and one night was balling my eyes out because I was so scared I was going to die in my sleep and go to hell. I did not die in my sleep, but I knew I wasn’t saved. Then my parents and I had a meeting with pastor soon after that. I knew that I wasn’t saved and that I was a sinner and that the penalty of my sin was eternity in hell. I knew that Jesus loved me and came and died on the cross to save me from my sins and that he was the only one who could save me. So I prayed and asked Jesus to come into my heart and save me from my sins.
I was saved at the age of 6, at the kitchen table when my mom was leading family devotions. She spoke of Heaven and what eternity is like and I realized that’s what I wanted. As she talked through it with me, I understood I had not personally been saved. I trusted Christ then and there and not only gained a home in Heaven but gained His Spirit today Who has been at work since that day changing me more into the image of Jesus
